Abstract Madness transforms the 2025 NCAA basketball tournament into a revolutionary blockchain experience. Each bracket you create is minted as an NFT that you own and can trade as the tournament progresses, adding an exciting new dimension to March Madness.

How to Participate

  1. Connect your wallet to the platform (any EOA wallet or AGW preferred)
  2. Create one or more brackets with your tournament predictions
  3. Mint each bracket as an NFT (costs vary by pool)
  4. Join one or more pools with your brackets
  5. Complete payment for each pool entry
  6. Track your brackets' performance on leaderboards as the tournament progresses

Supported Payment Methods:

  • ETH
  • Any ERC20s

Wallet Compatibility:

Abstract Madness supports any Ethereum-based wallets (EOAs) with Abstract Global Wallet (AGW) being preferred for the best experience.

Device Compatibility:

While Abstract Madness will work on mobile devices, desktop browsers are currently recommended for the optimal bracket creation and management experience.

How It Works

  • Create your tournament bracket predictions before the games begin
  • Mint your bracket as an NFT (limited to 100 per wallet)
  • As games unfold, your bracket's performance is tracked on-chain
  • Trade your brackets on marketplaces like Magic Eden and Mintify
  • Brackets are validated off-chain, with data published on-chain for transparency
  • Track your position on pool and global leaderboards in real-time

Pools and Entry

Join various pools with different entry fees and prize structures, one of which is free to enter.

  • BEARISH.AF: Free Roll: No cost entry with a chance to win 250K $PENGU

You can participate in multiple pools with different brackets.

Create Your Own Pool: Any user can create custom pools with their own entry fees, inviting friends or the community to join their bracket challenge.

Note: Mint fees for brackets that are not submitted by the deadline will not be refunded and will be added to the prize pool.

Prize Distribution

90% of all entry fees go directly to the prize pool. The distribution is top-heavy, focusing rewards on the top 20 performers, with a special prize for last place:

Note: Prize pools will have an adaptive structure based on entrants!

  • 1st Place: 20%
  • 2nd Place: 15%
  • 3rd Place: 10%
  • 4th-10th Place: 5% each
  • 11th-20th Place: 1% each
  • Last Place: 5%

Example Distribution: In a pool with 100 entries at $20 each, the total prize pool would be $1,800 (90% of $2,000). First place would receive $360, while 20th place would get $18.

Prize Delivery: All rewards will be distributed to the current owner of the bracket NFT at the time of tournament conclusion and finalization. If you sell your bracket, the new owner will receive any prizes it earns.

Tiebreakers: In the event of tied scores, positions will be determined by how closely participants predicted the total score of the championship game. The closer your prediction to the actual total, the higher your position among tied brackets.

Scoring System

Points are awarded in a Fibonacci sequence for correct picks in each round:

  • Round 1: 1 point per correct pick
  • Round 2: 2 points per correct pick
  • Round 3: 3 points per correct pick
  • Round 4: 5 points per correct pick
  • Round 5: 8 points per correct pick
  • Championship: 13 points

Scoring Example:

Player A: Got 80% of Round 1 picks correct (26/32 = 26 points) and correctly predicted the champion.

  • Round 1: 26 points
  • Round 2: 12 points (6/16 correct)
  • Round 3: 9 points (3/8 correct)
  • Round 4: 10 points (2/4 correct)
  • Final Four: 8 points (1/2 correct)
  • Championship: 13 points
  • Total: 78 points

Player B: Similar early performance but didn't pick the correct champion.

  • Round 1: 26 points
  • Round 2: 14 points (7/16 correct)
  • Round 3: 12 points (4/8 correct)
  • Round 4: 5 points (1/4 correct)
  • Final Four: 0 points (0/2 correct)
  • Championship: 0 points
  • Total: 57 points

Scoring Updates: Scores and matchups will be updated within a reasonable time frame after each game concludes. Your current standings will be visible on both pool-specific and global leaderboards. All scoring calculations are performed off-chain, with results published on-chain for transparency.
